"This game is lining up to be another Bama vs Georgia all-time classic."
The SEC championship is shaping up to be a thriller this year between two bitter rivals. While Georgia looks like the better team on paper, Alabama has had its number. Georgia has only beaten Alabama one time since 2012. That came in a 2022 week three matchup where Alabama turned the ball over three times in the 33-18 loss. Four of the last ten SEC Championship games have been this exact matchup, and all of the last ten have featured at least one of the two teams. Georgia is currently ranked third in the country with an 11-1 record. Their only loss came to, you guessed it, Alabama.
Georgia quarterback Gunner Stockton was unimpressive in that game as he was 13-20 passing with only 130 yards and a touchdown. Georgia running back Chauncey Bowens put up an efficient 119 yards and a touchdown on 12 carries, but it was not enough to lead the Bulldogs past the Ty Simpson-led Crimson Tide. Zachariah Branch only caught three passes for 35 yards. Georgia will need him to step up this game if they plan to come out of Mercedes-Benz Stadium victorious on Saturday afternoon. Despite Alabama’s impressive 10-2 record, they’ve played a lot of close games and suffered a shocking 31-17 loss against Florida State to open the season. Their other loss was at home, where Oklahoma took them down 23-21.
This game is lining up to be another Bama vs Georgia all-time classic. Will history repeat itself and see the Alabama Crimson Tide crowned as the 2025 SEC champions?
