Texans Defense Dominates In NFL Wild Card Game

Mason Garcia••5 min read

The Houston Texans' defense stepped up to hold the Pittsburgh Steelers to six points in what could be the final game of Aaron Rodgers’s likely Hall of Fame career. Rodgers was under duress all night as he got sacked four times and held to a 14.3 QBR with 146 passing yards. Calen Bullock added a 50-yard pick-six for the Texans defense, and the 6-foot-2 305 305-pound defensive tackle Sheldon Rankins returned a fumble for a 33-yard touchdown.

Texans Quarterback CJ Stroud struggled to hold on to the ball as he had five fumbles, but that did not stop him from finishing with a respectable 250 yards on 21 for 32 passing.

Texans Running Back Woody Marks put up over 100 yards in a game for the first time in his career. He finished with 112 yards and a touchdown on 19 carries.

Wide Receiver Christian Kirk put up a season high 144 yards receiving, and scored the only other offensive touchdown for the Texans. Kirk’s breakout was widely unexpected as he only put up a total of 239 receiving yards on the season.

The Texans will head to New England to face Drake Maye and the Patriots on Sunday in the divisional round of the playoffs.
